I like the more moody film scores ex. The Shawshank Redemption, Empire of the Sun, Dances with Wolves, and Meet Joe Black.

I've already expanded on my love of the music from LOTR.

Road to Perdition has some wonderful scores as well:

I'm in agreement with Lars, Shawshank Redemption does have a beautiful score:

Ennio Morricone sure is a great composer (as are Sergio Leone's westerns). And I like Howard Shore's work too, especially in David Cronenberg's films.

Another film score that has stuck with me, for whatever reason, is by Philip Glass, from Notes on a Scandal -- the movie itself isn't even that remarkable.

Just saw the "Thin Red Line" last night.

Some Christian Hymns from Melaneasian Islanders during the Battle of Guadalcanal.

Isloated people, happy with the simple things in life. These people were completely oblivious to the war between the Americans and the Japanese which was which was waged on their home islands. They knew little or nothing about the hatred which drove the Japanese war machine to conquer all of Asia and the Pacific.
