By looking at the landscapes and other clues, I would say northern Italy. It's not surprising, northen italians fell in the central European group and are not very different from french, german, swiss, austrian...

Yes it is Italy. The people are the Ethnic German people called the Walser. They are not situated in the South Tyrol, but the north west of italy. They number about 20,000.

They aren't really ethinc germans, in last century they mixed a lot and even in XIX century ''german'' walser weren't the majority in their villages...one of my paternal granparent was an ethinc walser, for example.
