Santiago elevated the Kundiman from being mere as a love song into a vehicle of Patriotic expression. Before Francisco Santiago's Kundiman. The Traditional Love Song was just simple unitary song rendered in either minor or major mode and stereotyped as rural folk music due to it's lack of harmonic structure. In Santiago's hand, The Kundiman transformed into a three-part musical 'art song'

In 1919, Santiago composed 'Ave Maria' and dedicated it to his bride, Concepcion Ocampo. His 'Ave Maria' is known to it's vocal and string lines and it's heartfelt romantic expressivity.

Yes, those are the days. That is why I support Filipinos that composed their original songs and should still stick to Filipino
Although, there are Filipinos Song that confused you if the song is still OPM because of Music Videos

Like some Filipinos who make song in English and you can't even trace the OPM
although we know English is one of the official language so it's okay as long as they stick to still a Filipino normal music video but Filipino Language is much better to used and that make the song still different and unique on it's own. Hope others can apply our Indigenous music too to what is now modern music like what the Asin Music Band did like the music 'Cotabato', other songs from the 70's used rondalla.

^This song was composed by Apl.de.Ap who is Filipino-American born in the Philippines. But to released music video for Filipino people it seems the video is not a 100% OPM. So I can't blame others to think that some Filipinos are trying hard 'Ghetto', Instead of helping the OPM Music to level up.

and This another music video that irritates me. Filipino copying KPOP artist haha... Imagine we live in a tropical country with those outfit hahaa... Song is original Filipino Music but the video.. this irritates me because it's obviously a KPOP (Hairstyle, Outfit, Style)

Buloy - Parokya ni Edgar:Inuman Session Vol.1 THE STORY: Buloy was actually a real person, an FEU fine arts student, but he was still alive when the song was written. I remember how this particular song used to be on the telly a couple of years ago and we could hear it all the time and everywhere: be it on TV, on radios i tricycles, on screens in airports etc. This because it was part of an official ad campaign by the Filpino government to draw in tourists (I Choose Philippines).
