Hah, I love how he's portrayed as "racist" against midgets. It reminds me of an anecdote: A number of years ago this older black guy at work jokingly said to me "it's a man's world, am I right?" A younger, more uppity, black woman overheard this and accused him of being a ray-ciss. :confused:

I doubt Tolkien imagined the Noldor to be swarthy. They were dark haired but noble looking therefore they would probably fit into the northern European Atlantid category.

Wasn't there a race called Horodrim or some such? They were MENA-like and sided with Sauron. The latest movie, Deselation of Smaug, contained truly overt PC propaganda. Toward the end, with no pertinence to story line and feature in prominent and intentional close-ups were several East African and South-Asian looking folks. I've read The Hobbit and am pretty sure there was no mention of folks like these (Tolkien nerds: correct me if I'm wrong, as I'm no expert) , so the only conclusion I can come to is that they were featured solely for the purpose of destroying the largely Northern European feel of the story.

Middle Earth is based on Europe, therefore no other races live there except races based on European look. Other races exist outside Middle earth, like the mentioned Haradrim. There are explanations that Mordor actually represents Turkey or Islamic invaders in general on the border of the continent.
