Still Greek but with a Middle Eastern/Sahara/Aladin vibe to it on the chorus.

People who don't think this sounds "Greek" probably associate Greek music with the Balkan type stuff (the clarinet-based music from the north), or the more Ottoman influenced music. Nothing wrong with that since they are all Greek styles but that's my impression most likely.

I'll go with Greek too.

So the question would be, if this is a Greek-like style, then it's clearly not Ottoman when you hear Greek music like this, since Sicily had no Ottoman influence. It must be Byzantine.

Vocalism of arab origin, song sounds more hellenic.

Omg
What the hell is clarinet-based music and how does it relate with the North?

Arvanite music

Any use of the clarinet is Arvanite music?

What's Arvanite music to begin with?

In the other thread they were speaking for polyphony, that makes some sense.

BUT CLARINET-BASED MUSIC?

FOR REAL?

This is Epirote, not Arvanite and it doesn't characterise every region.

You're bad to this.

If opera uses clarinet, does it make it Arvanite music?

Anyway,I'm no specialist myself. One should get here to explain.

I mean if that is what people think of as Greek music, then they won't think any Sicilian music sounds Greek. Which it does but not that style.

You spoke of clarinet-based music.I't like speaking for guitar-based when you get from salsa to heay metal.

One may not think Sicilian for many reasons, not necessarily because it's imported of some sort.

why did you group North Italy with France? I don't understand
this music sounds very Italian.
