Today 100 years ago, the great comedian Louis De Funes was born. :) He'll be remembered as one of the greatest comedy actors of all time. He added intellect and skill to his roles, and his performances as a choleric, bourgeois grouch are unforgotten. Oh how I loved to watch his movies made in the 60's, 70's and early 80's when I was a young girl!

One of his greatest movies was 'La Soupe aux choux' (Louis und seine außerirdischen Kohlköpfe), one of his last movies. It was so funny and so sad at the same time...about getting old, about being ignored by younger generations, about long lost love and much more. I liked how he and his old friend, the hunchback, were taken to the Outer Space by the 'UFO man' who responded on cabbage farts...

Or his 'Hitler' scene in another movie...;)

Louis De Funes died in January 1983 but he's liked by almost all people I know.

I barely remember some of their movies, but mainly dressed as policeman.

Maybe I will revisite him...

Btw, he was full spanish, but born in france. And his father was an aristocrat from Seville, never would have said.

Louis de Funès (French pronunciation: [lwi də fy.nɛs]hear; 31 July 1914 – 27 January 1983), born Louis Germain David de Funès de Galarza, was a popular French actor of Spanish origin and one of the giants of French comedy

Louis de Funès was born on 31 July 1914 in Courbevoie, Hauts-de-Seine to parents from Seville, Spain. Since the couple's families opposed their marriage, they settled in France in 1904. His father, Carlos Luis de Funès de Galarza, a nobleman and his mother side from family marquesses de Galarza, had been a lawyer in Spain, but became a diamond cutter upon arriving in France. His mother, Leonor Soto Reguera, was of Galician extraction, daughter of a prominent politician from Galicia, senator Teolindo  Soto Barro.

but sincerely, I thought he was from humble catalan origins, but I never knew until today he was some kind of andalucian nobleman, at least his father was marquess (De Galarza  )

I remember De Funes as kind of hyperactive, making incredible and very fast gestures with every part of his face...
