What is our heritage and why should importance be placed on it? What is most important regarding heritage? What should always be kept in mind regarding it? Please be thorough and give concrete examples.

Heritage is what you inherit.

What is our heritage and why should importance be placed on it?

Heritage is wisdom, traits and habits that have been handed down for countless generations -- something which is bigger than one lifetime. Much bigger. Therefore, we should be mindful of it, because it could easily be forgotten or neglected if care is not taken.

Think of it this way: If you have children one day, heritage is that which you would want them to remember from your lifetime, and those of your ancestors.

"Heritage" has the connotation of "looking backwards from the present". But as a wise man once said, "Being a good ancestor matters much more than being a good descendant" [paraphrased].

Remember that movie "Pay It Forward"? The concept of heritage should be like that -- each person should try to leave an improved "heritage" to the next generation. (Note: Reckless racial-mixing, annihilating human biodiversity, is no improvement). To the extent any of us do this, that is a successful life.

each person should try to leave an improved "heritage" to the next generation....The story of the human race, lo these past few million years, in a nutshell.

Heritage is a bullshit human construct.

What do you mean? Heritage is a word with an absolute definition. Not a "human construct" in the least bit(for example non-human species could have heritage) As simply as wikipedia(and Loki :) ) put it

Heritage refers to something which is inherited from one's ancestors. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heritage)

He is trolling  (...unentertainingly.)

This is the same guy who made the "Best Piece of European Music Ever" and put some white rap group's video with obscene lyrics.
