How is Nudity perceived in your social hemisphere?

I am under the impression that most people around the world look at nudity the same way. Besides some Isolated tribes most of the world has a similar viewpoint when it comes to nudity. Although there are some minor differences from place to place and culture to culture. In the Balkans I saw this English tourist on the beach changing her top exposing herself for a brief moment, there was also some Italian chick doing the same thing. In the US and Canada nudity is very taboo and this wouldn't happen. (I prefer strict codes of non-nudity btw). So how is nudity perceived in your social hemisphere?

Somali women have been and are traditonally more liberated than many of their Muslim counterparts elsewhere. I can pull several citations where foreigners observed this, but I wont waste time educating you, just making it known for the record...

In the USA, it's pretty hypocritical. Female breasts can be shown all day, as long as their evil nipples are covered. As for men, they can have their nipples showing and be wearing nothing but a speedo and that's kosher, but as soon as a testicle pops out, it's x-rated.

And in Italy, it's pretty much everything goes.

It's all a matter of perspective. On the personal level, I'm all for tasteful nudity.

On the other hand, I don't think it has a place on TA, although I wouldn't protest too loudly if female members sent some indecent photographs in my direction. Certain female members in particular would be almost welcomed.

But nudity has always had its place and always will have its place. The bedroom, the back of a car, the compartment in between trains, the janitor's closet, etc.

I don't like nudity because a great deal of the population where I live is overweight. And you know what kind of people goes into public nudist resorts.

Besides this obvious issue, I am against it because it's not sanitary and the brief benefits of looking at eye candy can lead to rapes, which is one of the reasons why clothes are worn anyways.

A couple of years ago, I was on the French side of St. Martin on a tour which visited a nude beach. It was a work day which probably explains why very few young people were there. Most of those who were there were obese, elderly, and ugly. The scene was, for the most part,the very antithesis of erotic. There were two exceptions, though.

But there are some places where it is allowed. A lake with a sandy beach and a lot of trees around it.

In Northern Europe, they have a relaxed attitude towards public nudity, as many German beaches on the Baltic coastline have clothing optional beaches. Even many parks in Germany, you can go nude. Most Danish beaches you can go nude. It seems the most progressive societies , have a much more relaxed attitude towards nudity.

Around where I live you can go nude at pretty much any beach and no one will really care, there are nude beaches as well. But, obviously Catalunya is not representative for all of Spain, if you went nude at a beach in Murcia police would probably detain you, depends on where you're at.

In the city its a taboo, but technically speaking there isn't any law on the books actually banning nudity but rather just "obscene acts", so the police would still get to you if ya went around showing your schlong.
