I think it comes from Saveria, which is the Italian female version of Xavier. Strange name for a Greek, I know.

Agean islands had quite a few Jews and also Catholic Greeks.

Maybe it is related to either of those.

It's a Hebrew-derived Jewish surname, so this Greek girl might have Jewish ancestry.

According to septinisular sources, margiolis/margiolas, is from venetian/Italian Mariolo which means crook/swindler.
So, judging from her name its most likely a venetian ancestry somwhere in her line (from Lefkada) that led to her name/surname
