14 of the Best Bathroom Design Ideas

Recently we noticed that there had been little available online to provide inspiration for improving the look of a bathroom. We couldn’t work out why because your bathroom is just as important a room in your home as any, if not more so. It is a room where you escape to relax in, where you go to make yourself look beautiful, where you got to freshen up; so why not add some style, some class, something individual or quirky to it. Bathrooms aren’t always about clinical white, matching elements and symmetry throughout. They are about making your mark, making a statement and being an individual just as much as you do with your kitchen or bedroom.

It goes without saying that we would never have thought of putting a bicycle in a bathroom, but when we showed the bicycle washbasin to a few cycling friends they loved it! The goldfish bowl is such an imaginative idea and we couldn’t help wondering how the fish would react every time the tap was turned on. The circular white washbasin with the patterned base had us all bemused as to us it looks like it is suspended in thin air – very clever but very spooky too! Though the moss rug was interesting, it seemed a bit impractical, but because we all don’t have the money to install a hammock bath, it was nice to see the ship shower curtain. This is something that would transform your bath or shower room, and not break the bank at the same time.

Some of these are great, but I find the organic looking rug to be gross.

I think most of these are scenographic but useless. That's why I am a fan of Ikea: its items have a cool modern design but they are also practical.

I wouldn't be able to use the bathroom with the glass floor.

The house I grew up in had a bathroom like this. Exactly the same shade too, except that the pink tiles went all the way up to the ceiling. Luckily the fixtures like the bath, shower and washbasins were white.

It wasn't retro then, it was the fashion! We also had a blue bathroom, although it was more of a guest toilet. Same style of pink tiles except that they were blue, all the way up to the ceiling.

That's really awesome! I'd love to live in 1950's ranch with the works. I even found a pink kitchen to match my pink bathroom. :P

How terrible! Our kitchen was orange! The tiles on the floor were dark green but the cupboards were all orange. The sink was stainless steel (thankfully not orange). The fridge, dishwasher and stove (exactly the same as in the picture) were white. And the tiles.... the tiles were orange too.

It sounds beautiful! Hahah! :P

You maybe able to handle a Mid Century Modern home. What we're talking about is what I like to call classic retro.

The whole house is beautiful, I'll take it! :)

Talk about a blast from the past! It was bad enough the first time around. It's equally bad the second time around.

And then this damned table! It kept on falling over because of its three legs. Our was orange.

Rather your house than mine. I was glad to get rid of all the stuff. I should have kept it all to give it to you!

You're too kind! :) I asked my grandmother why didn't she save all the cool stuff from the 1950's. She said was glad to get rid of it too! :P

I don't blame her! In fact, I would have paid you to take it. And paid for the shipping myself!

Bathroom design should be more creative to save some space and colors should be more eye friendly and gives relaxation, soothing effect.
