Since I`m one who has a strong love for the sea, ships and everything maritime despite growing up in the clouds in a mountain,I think I should be the one making this thread.

Post pictures of beautiful sail ships, steamers, tankers, ferries, naval ships, even smaller vessels like fishing trawlers or motorboats.

I'll start by posting a few personal favorites.

The Vasa

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/15/The_Vasa_from_the_Bow.jpg

A Swedish warship built 1626–1628. The ship foundered and sank after sailing about 1,300 m (1,400 yd) into her maiden voyage on 10 August 1628. She fell into obscurity after most of her valuable bronze cannons were salvaged in the 17th century until she was located again in the late 1950s in a busy shipping lane just outside the Stockholm harbor. Salvaged with a largely intact hull in 1961, she was housed in a temporary museum called Wasavarvet ("The Wasa Shipyard") until 1988 and then moved to the Vasa Museum in Stockholm. The ship is one of Sweden's most popular tourist attractions and has been seen by over 29 million visitors since 1961. Vasa has since her recovery become a widely recognized symbol of the Swedish "great power period".

I thought about going in the Naval academy but I already chose Law/Special policing in a private College.

Maybe when I finish I can go in the academy for a Marine Vessel license, they offer all kinds of separate licensing. As of now I only have a certificate that I`m capable to serve on a marine vessel as a crew member not engaged in navigation.I've done hours on a fishing trawler in the winter seasons.

The Hermione is a 32-gun Concorde-class frigate fitted for 12-pounder guns, completed in Rochefort by the Asselin organisation in 2014. She is a reproduction of the 1779 Hermione, which achieved fame by ferrying General Lafayette to the United States in 1780 to allow him to rejoin the American side in the American Revolutionary War.

SS Normandie was an ocean liner built in Saint-Nazaire, France, for the French Line Compagnie Générale Transatlantique (CGT). She entered service in 1935 as the largest and fastest passenger ship afloat; she is still the most powerful steam turbo-electric-propelled passenger ship ever built.
