Most of it came post-slavery according to the latest thing I read, before someone goes on about house slaves and fields slaves dark vs light let me just say this.

It is incorrect to take Deep South Carolina/Gullah Coast and Mississippi delta slave populations to mean all blacks since to this day those are still the blackest areas

Virginia, the midatlantic, Louisiana, Charleston, and New England black Americans as a whole were already fairly mixed, though they being only a small part of the black American community were subsumed by the Great migration of the 1920's.

The blue vein society types along with the mulatto elite were slower to the mixing with poor people in general but by the 1950's and beyond all just about mixed with darker black Americans of a particular class and education to stay in power.

They look like clothes given to them (as clothe to construct clothing or already made) by the freedmens bureau after slavery ended, the pictures are a part of a larger body of work to show the conditions of freed blacks or are part Christian groups to show the "negro" in some light for support.

It varies. But, it seems to me that most of the time it's more recent. The races shouldn't mix.

It's odd to think all European admixture in African Americans comes from post-slavery muh dicking. I read that somewhere that a huge percentage of them carry R1b West European haplogroups. Old pics make everyone look blacker and uglier.

Ok, but he should point out that data before publishing those pictures, the OP says american black slaves of the1800s .
Nevertheless west african slaves in North America had better life conditions than their counterparts in the caribbean and Brazil. Their population have been growing since the time of the colony, while in the caribbean the high rates of deaths provoke a constant demand of workforce from the slave trade.

that is because north america was the only place where west africans has have a positive population growth in the americas since XVII century. In the caribbean they just worked till death.
