I love his work, and own two books with them in. And two chocolate boxes I kept, with 'Ivan Tsarevich and the Grey Wolf', and 'The Three Bogatyrs'. :p And yet there's one or two in your post I hadn't seen before; Multumesc! (though my poor hard drive is complaining! ;))

I especially approve of how he uses Russian folklore motifs. I always regret that our English artists of the period never did this, but were too distracted by Arthuriana.

I'll say also, that his brother Appolinariy deserves to be better known.

Little brother was a good artist, but seems to have used this gift as an aid to understanding history, rather than an end in itself, painting informed reconstructions of Russian life down the centuries. I suppose he's doing the same as Viktor in the promotion of national culture and heritage, but in his own way. :) He did a great series of stages in the development of Moscow, right from its first stirrings as barely a village in prehistoric times.

THere's a great page with links to pics here (the pic links are in blue on the left, for those less agile in Cyrillic):

EDIT: Oooh! I just found this superb one, more approaching his elder brother's quality:
