Charlie the Venus Flytrap

So I found a guy on Youtube who makes these videos where he feeds his carnivorous plant with different things (in one of them he even gives the plant a cigarette). When I read the comments some people say that it hurts the plant and that the guy is an asshole for doing all these things to his plant.
What do you think about this?

To be honest I think these videos are hilarious (I don't even know why they make me laugh) and I don't think that the plant can feel pain. But I want to know how people are thinking about this and if they think it's cruel what he does.

The only problem I can see is worrying if the trap gets enough protein or not.

Well apparently the trap dies after his videos because it takes a lot of energy for the plant to "close its mouth" and there aren't enough proteins in the food he gives it (or something like that according to the youtube comments).
