Is there any test that measures this? This would measure actual segments of DNA that are shared rather than just genetic proximity. I am curious to see if there is a way of actually measuring which regions have the most direct Greek genes, rather than just which ones plot closest today, which may be coincidental.
If there is, my expectation is that the highest amount is in Apulia.

My grandfather from Calabria only gets a score of 0.1% for Greece on Countries of Ancestry at 23andme at the 4gp 5cM threshold.

Yet his autosomal profile is almost identical to people from the Aegean islands. This is why I want to see IBD sharing.
I am going to go through my friends list and see how everyone fares with regard to sharing with Greece.
Greece for me is 0.9%! Compared to Italy 4.5%, Portugal 1.3%, Brazil 1.2%, and Poland 0.8%. My mom gets 0.3%.

You'd figure the Griko speakers would be the closest.

Of all the southern Italians I share with, only a few (an Apulian, and a Sicilian from Enna, and another from Ragusa) have higher IBD sharing on "Countries of Ancestry" with Greeks than I do. Mine is fairly high, although I do know of distant Greek ancestry on one side of my Sicilian family, due to Ottoman refugees.

Moreover, most of the Greeks I have on my list get Poland as a top match, often as high as other Balkan countries and Italy. Russia sometimes appears fairly high up, but Poland in particular.
Greeks seem to have more Italian matches than the reverse.
