I've only rode in a train once in my whole entire life. I live in mid sized town with a population of like 40,000 people. There aren't any train stations here. Most people get around by using a car or a taxi

There is no direct connection from LA to SF which is kinda lame, you have to take a bus part of the way. Not sure if the bullet train from LA to SF or LA to Las Vegas is still going to happen.
