I find I can compare the images without actually having to rotate them as such. Not sure if that is what the test intends me to do, but I achieved a decent score with it anyhow.

When there aren't too many blocks, I only stare at the blocks touching the limit/wall. When a lot of blocks appear, things get a little easier, just pay attention to the blocks in the middle.

When a lot of blocks appear, things get a little easier, just pay attention to the blocks in the middle.Interesting to hear of your methodology, though I cannot imagine that would ever work for me. For large numbers of blocks I look at clusters and identify differences between them, which usually takes less than a second. If they are identical I scan the rest of the square for differences, which takes a bit longer (4 seconds or so) but is only necessary in a minority of cases.
I scored 260 as well on another go.
