I adore dogs, "mini-pigs", squirrels, hedgehogs, mallards, bears, parrots, ravens, crows, wolverines, wolves, Tasmanian devils, orangutans, gorillas, elephants, rhinos, turtles & tortoises etc.

However I'm frightened and disgusted by most creepy-crawly things such as centipedes, spiders and such. Ants are all right though, in fact I like them a lot.

And oh, I really like ladybugs. Besides getting rid of undesirable pests, they bring good luck. ;)

One of my fondest childhood memories was when I was 4-5.. I have vivid memories of it, we were at my grandmother a week before Christmas and she had a pig much like the one above laying there on the table, I was spellbound I still remember it fondly :) and I did love that pig all trough jul. :p

I loved your photos, I am an animal lover too. I have three cats, which I got from shelters and I love them dearly. One day I saw all three of them sitting together on my weaving bench looking out the window, with all three tails hanging down behind. Today I was working at the sink & I turned around and there all three of them were lined up on the sink with me, watching me. The smallest one was bringing up the rear. I wished I had my camera at the moment.

Huskies:
Where I used to live, when I was out in the yard lots of time a lady would walk by with her poodle and her beautiful husky. If you aren't acquainted with a husky they can look a little intimidating with those unusual eyes. One day I was petting the little poodle as usual, and I asked her why the huskie, (King) looked at me so odd. She said he wants you to pet him too. From then on King and I were the best of friends. She said he always looked for when they walked by the house.

I see in your profile you have a lot of ethnics in your make up. I thought you might help explain to me what the (ap) means in a family from Wales.
My maiden name has a (son) on the end of it, & they always say that means son of (the first half of your name.) Is that what ap means?
I always thought I was mainly English, but I just discovered one of my English ancestors married a girl from Wales. So I guess I have a tiny bit of Welch in me too. Back in the 1400's they were calling themselves ap Owen, then in the 1600's when they came to America they changed it to just plain Bowen. I don't believe in name changes, but if I had an ap in mine, I believe I would leave it out too.

Yep, the word `mab` means `son`, very similar to the Irish `O` as in O`Connor, and `Mac` in Scotland, they all mean the same thing.

In most cases the `m` has been dropped and is seen as `ap` or `ab.` In your case, the ap Owen was changed to ab Owen and then to Bowen. We may even be related, the surname Bowen originates from a small area called Pembrokeshire which was a Norman stronghold and received a lot of Flemish immigrants. Many other surnames have been through this process to become what they are today - eg, Powell, Pugh, Pritchard, Price, Probert etc.
