Were you BORN a thug? Experiences can make a criminal - but genes are to blame for violent behaviour too, study finds
Study questioned 1,337 students in Sweden about their life experiences
It also took DNA to test for gene variants MAOA, 5-HTTLPR and BDNF
MAOA breaks down and releases energy in transmitters such as serotonin
Quarter of men carry less active variant of MAOA, and among them, those who experience physical abuse in childhood are more likely to be violent
Overall the study found three genetic variants interacted with each other, and with conflict and abuse, to increase the likelihood of delinquency

You may not have been born a criminal, but a combination of genes and environment could control your fate when it comes to anti-social behaviour.
This is according to a recent study which found that experiences, such as divorce and sexual abuse, could affect gene expressions that control a person's predisposition to delinquency.
The study used a survey of 1,337 students aged 17 or 18 in Västmanland, Sweden, who anonymously completed questionnaires reporting on their behaviour.

In this documentary, some guys who have this gene are CEOs. Interestingly enough, Henry Rollins and the UFC fighters sampled lacked it:

Oh yeah and the Buddist monks sampled have it.

Is it what is called "Warrior gene" or is it something other? If so which SNP's are responsible?

This is the best proxy for the number of repeats of the MAOA warrior gene. In 105 samples (69 males, 36 females) from the Stanley foundation brain collection, it was always A in people with the 4 or 5 repeat non-Warrior version and always G in people with the 3 repeat Warrior version. The combination rs909525(A) AND rs6323(G) AND rs3027399(G) indicate specifically that it is the 5 repeat version. The 2 repeat version and the 3.5 repeat version weren't mentioned

So what position on this gene should one have to be thug accoding to 23andme?

T/A - MAOA 4R or 5R (Normal)
C/G - MAOA 2R or 3R (Warrior Gene)

I have C. Do you know if there is any way to find out if one is two versus three repeats?

Nah. I just know that rs6323 and rs3027399 are only useful for distinguishing between the 4R and 5R forms of the gene for non-warrior. Which most who follow this know I'm sure anyway.

I have the "warrior gene" and I am naturally aggressive. Luckily, I had a good upbringing and focused my energies into athletics.

Are you using 23andme?

23andMe's looks something like this, at least for me anyway:

Gene Position SNP Versions Your Name
MAOA 43553202 rs909525 C or T ? ? ? ? ?

It will either give you a C or a T. If it gives you 'T' then you are 'non-warrior'.

Being on the X chromosome, does it have the same effect when it is paired up with women?

I would imagine you would inherit from your mother's side, but it has only been studied in men I believe...

How can you look up 23andme data to see if you have thug genes? Which snp is it? Which allele is the thug allele?
