Priyanka and Rahul Gandhi. They are 1/2 Indian, 1/2 Italian. Could they pass as Southern Italians/Sicilians?

Yes, I agree that the man looks more Euro than the woman, however both of them are lighter than the majority of South Asians.

I think Salmon Rushdie could pass as Italian even. He is not that dark for a South Asian or even if he was a Middle Eastern man. But he is full Northwest Indian (or Pakistani?) Muslim.

Salman Rushdie not really.
Salman Rushdie not really.
Salman looks more Jewish.

Agree. He could pass not only in Italy but also in other Southern European places.

I agree and it's surprising. Is he pure Paki or Indian? Jews and Italians resemble each other anyway.

Agree, he can pass in Italy as a Rabbi.

Absolutely not average Italians.

Absolutely not average Italians.
Southernmost Italians (Calabria, Sicily) can look like Jews and vice versa. Keep in mind that they plot together genetically, and that Jews in Europe have a lot of Italian convert ancestry from Roman times.

Even if you are right, Calabrians and Sicilians are not average Italians. And you perfectly know this.
And I know tons of Calabrians and Sicilians that do not look like Jews.

I know some who look even darker and more exotic than Jews. And then some who could be taken for Anglo.
So what? The point is they average out genetically and some of them look similar. People mistake my dad as Ashkenazi all the time, and his closest celebrity lookalikes are all Jews.

How do Jews compare in pigmentation with Italians? There seem to be many more pale and/or light eyed and haired jews. Less of the Euro Jews that are quite dark and Levantine looking.

I don't know for sure based on the Jews I know because I don't know if they have 2 Jewish parents or not.

You are not an average Italian, deal with it.
The fact the people mistake you and your father (what people? Americans!) for an Ashkenazi, it doesn't mean that Italians look Ashkenazi. In Italy people like your and your father are called terun. But not all the Southern Italians are stereotypical terun.
It's like saying that all Romanians look Gypsies because some Romanians are Gypsies.
The man looks fully European.
Even Spanish as well.

But those who are are seen very disdainfully by people like you, and you wonder why it makes me resentful.

About this, you do not deserve an answer.
In ten years’ time I suggest you to read all what you have written in these years.

Sik, your father in the prewedding photo looked European, typical Italian American before Jersey Shore. I suppose he looked Sicilian. By time it seems he gained some weight and it makes his features look bigger, but to say that he looks Lebanese seems excessive to me.

It's not me saying it but rather Americans. Mind you he lives in a town now with very few Italians, and only Portuguese, Brazilian and Irish and a few Lebanese.

On the basis of the Brazilians who live in Italy, you could guess that there are no white Brazilians.

Those brazilians who are fully italian and have simillar phenotypes to them are almost always of Calabrese,Campanian,Puglian or Sicilian ancestry! There are many brazilians who would not stand out in Italy because they are fully italian,my maternal grandmother is one of them :thumbs up
