Btw Demaria is an Italian surname.
Shouldn't read too much into a surname without knowing her background.
Could be her married name or her stepfather's name or her real name, we just don't know by looking at a name tag.

Btw Demaria is an Italian surname.
The highest concentration of Demarias is found in Provence on the French Riviera, and it seems most of them have been there for generations.

Which —with a nearly absolute certainty— indicates that Demaria is a name from neighbouring Piedmont.

Right, Demaria is from West Piedmont that borders with France (while De Maria is Southern Italian). So more likely it could be a distant migration.
