this is Gypsy hybrid music (oriental + dance + balkan). genre is called manele. highly popular among lower classes and Romanians that immigrated (which most of the time come from the lower classes). in Romania, especially in the urban environment, it has a sort of stigma to it. you cannot listen something like this or people will react nasty. forbidden in some workplaces. anyway, music is music, but people are very hypocrite :) it's a sort of low life mark, as hip hop is for negroes.

The singer is from my region (Maramures). The lyrics themselves were composed by villagers from the neighboring Bucovina region. It's theme is the ethnic cleansing and deportation of Romanians from North Bucovina. "Bucovina, realm of flowers, where are your sons?" Very somber.
