Death wishes are a crappy thing to tell someone. However, it probably is one of those actions that are meant for sure fire pissing another person off so, I would recommend to ignore that person instead.

If there is comfort needed, just remember an ill wisher has no power over you unless you allow to take pass.

You're very sensitive. If someone says they hope a family member of mine dies that doesn't mean the relative will magically die. A lame death wish isn't an issue. I wouldn't think much of it, and nor would anyone else who isn't overly sensitive.
