Like many women, Tracey Williams dreamed of having a fairytale wedding.
But unlike most women, preparing for her big day meant covering her body in green paint and transforming herself into an ogre.
The 33-year-old movie buff and her husband Viv tied the knot dressed as ugly cartoon ogres Shrek and Princess Fiona.

The couple saw the film Shrek on their first date and friends had teased them that they resembled the fairytale couple.

Mrs Williams, 33, ditched the traditional white gown and daubed herself in green body paint, fake ears and a bright red wig instead.

'Everyone said I made a lovely Princess Fiona and Viv was the perfect Shrek,' she said.

She said the guests all got into the spirit of the event, which was staged in Bridgend, South Wales.

'The best man was dressed as Monsieur Hood, my dad was Lord Farquaad, my mother was the Fairy Godmother and the maid of honour was Snow White.'

'Our friends always used to say we looked like the characters when we went on nights out.

'Even though Shrek and Fiona are both green ogres, we didn't take it offensively because we like them so much.'

Mr Williams, 53, said: 'Neither of us needed persuading at all. We were both as keen as each other.

'We watched the films, became addicted and when we decided to get married we both knew how we wanted the wedding to be.

'I wouldn't mind betting we have started a trend - the whole family absolutely loved it. It looked amazing.'

People are so intent in making a mockery of time honoured customs.

I hope this couple find themselves in an old shoe surrounded by laughing cows and animated cutlery with ambitions to elope.

People tend to think that these are cartoon characters, but this is what REAL north Wales people look like, Bryn ;)
