Both are Subnordid of some description. Central European types.

They look Northwest Europeans, I would have guessed them British, German, and such. I must say sometimes I do think of the French as more Med like people but it seems there is a stronger Northern impact in France. The reason I think the French as more Med as often they are shown on TV as such.

French Canadian settlers were mostly from the West-Central to Northern France

^Yeah that would make sense based on how the French-Canadians look like. I have no idea where the Med type began to be associated with the French people in general. Are there French-Canadians of southern roots as well or not really?

No, it has been 300-400 years since the arrival of the French settlers. Everybody is mixed together and they were no segregation between the settlers. Whether you are Normand or from Aquitaine, you are French and a settler. We are mostly from Normandy, Île-de -France, Poitou and La Rochelle, which is the upper part of France.

That darker med stereotype was started in Hollywood and also to a lesser extend in Britain too.
