You don't know much about Iranic tribes. We have the highest number of Iranic tribes outside of Iran. This phenotype is very common among Iranic tribes.

Keypoint on "original" iranic tribes. Of course modern ethnic groups are somewhat mixed with indigenous populations. But I don't see this phenotype being common to the proto-indo-europeans. They weren't nordids, but they probably didn't have phenotypes as dark as that.

I once spoke to a lady at a local hairdresser mentioning that my grandfather was born in Azech in Turkey. She instantly got excited telling me that I looked Turkish, and that I was then a "Turk" to her or something similar. I got flattered by her response and answered by telling her he was ethnically Assyrian (süryaniler) and she immediately got quiet, almost in a let-down manner. The only thing she said before getting quiet was that "Syria is a big problem to Turkey" in an almost obnoxious tone, I suppose she was referring to the Syrian crisis, and the border clashes. Perhaps she didn't realize the difference between "Süryaniler" and "Suriye halkı". Now, this happened out in the rural areas, but I still felt awkward after she got quiet. Is there a lot of xenophobia in Turkey as a result of assimilation problems or something similar?

Yeah, it's official name is İdil. It's just that we call it Azakh/Azech in Assyrian, I should have thought of that.

I supposed she didn't really see the difference there at first. But she wasn't the only one who acted oddly after I told them (only after they had asked me first about my heritage), one other person even made a *tch* sound and walked away. But most were open and very kind, it's just that I was very surprised - I'd never experienced that before.

You can find the same stereotypes among Assyrians as well, unfortunately, and of course people of other ethnicities. It waters out my "pride" in my Assyrian heritage when I meet those kind of people, although I don't usually like to use the word "pride".

Yes, the northernmost distribution of indo-european peoples prior to intercontinental travel (the 1500s) was the town of Överkalix. Swedes up there tend to look slightly more Lappid/Baltid, not sure if they indeed mixed with Sami, I don't think so though. I don't *know* anything, it's just based of what I've seen personally. :)
