View Full Version : Assign Haplogroups to a Founding Ethnic Group/Prehistoric Culture

It would be silly to say that genetic haplogroups emerged just as a linguistic group did, but assign European (and/or other) haplogroups to a "founding group"- or at least, one very strongly associated with a meta-ethnicity or perhaps an ancient prehistoric archeological "culture" which encompasses many modern meta-ethnicities.

My own YDNA is r1a1a. my Paternal grandfather was German-American, and most likely 100% German. I might attribute our deep paternal descent to Slavs and/or Balts. That is, that was probably the cultural association during late antiquity and the early middle ages.
Before that, it's likely they stemmed from Troy.
