China: The Mandate of Heaven Many breakthroughs on which the modern world is based were discovered in China long ago...iron-casting, gunpowder, even printing. When introduced to Europe, these things changed Western civilization. This episode presents the synthesis of East and West.
:thumb001: Very interesting stuff.

(I have changed the video link but left the description intact as the quality of this video is slightly higher.)

Iron-casting wasn't invented in China. As far as the historical record goes, iron-casting was first undertaken by the Hittites, in what is now called Turkey, about 3,500 years ago.

If [I]cast iron from a blast furnace is implied, then, yes, that's the Chinese, who undertook this feat about 1,000 years after Hittite iron-making began during the Latter Zhou Dynasty.
