surely this map can't be right, you're telling me alaska has the same stats as the mainland US?

as for mexico having a lower hiv rate, my guess would be this is due to them being less tolerant of homosexuality.

The map says Russia has 1-5% of the population infected. I couldn't find such numbers. 0.5 - 0.6% is what I've found.

Balkan scores better than Western Europe and Russia.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was underreported in some countries though.

seems much more about the family structure. japan Korea Mongolia Bulgaria and Romania aren't muslim, however Yemen Algeria etc are in the same pot with Europe

I know that, but the bulk of Muslims have a minor percentage, just compare Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia with Italy, and Spain for example.

Indeed, for 57% of infected the main factor of risk was usage of non-sterile syringes. While for 41% it was hetero sex. Figures are for year 2013.
