Romania has been promoted as a tourist destination at the 35th edition of the Borsa Internazionale del Turismo (BIT), held in Milan from February 12 to 14 2015, reads a release issued by the National Tourism Authority (ANT).

Italy represents one of the main markets for Romania, especially for cultural tourism, city breaks, rural and nature tourism that generate annually significant business and leisure flows. In 2014, there were over 300,000 arrivals of Italian tourists in Romania, according to the National Statistics Institute (INS) data, with an increase of 4.45% even in crisis time. The market share is over 10% in terms of arrivals and over 7% in terms of the number of overnight stays.

Romania was present in this trade fair with a national tourism stand of 120 sqm which housed 12 relevant companies. The stand showed off Romania’s authentic, rural feature and the contact with uncontaminated nature, themes closely related to Expo Milano 2015.

‘Our presence at the tourism fair is very important to promote the destination ‘Romania’, the perfect destination for 365 days a year. Romania has a diversified tourism with a rich offer for all ages. A perfect destination for cultural tourism in Transylvania and Bucovina, city break tourism in Bucharest, rural tourism in Maramures, without forgetting the Danube Delta, Black Sea shore, or the active and adventure tourism in the Carpathian Mountains,’ said Simona Man, the ANT’s President, quoted by Agerpres.

To stay connected with Expo 2015 theme, ‘Feeding Nature, Energy for Life,’ and to promote the destination through taste, Romania’s stand held an event with Romanian products as well as wines and preserves produced in Romania. On the day dedicated to the public, a wood craftsman has made demonstrations at Romania’s stand, Agerpres reports.
