Isis followers have released a propaganda video showing sledge-hammer wielding militants destroying artefacts in Iraq’s northern city of Mosul, in another example of the group's attempt to wipe out what it deems to be heretic.

Armed with hammers and drills in the Mosul Museum, the five-minute clip shows Isis members desecrate several large statues which are hundreds of years old. The video, which has not been verified but appears to be genuine, then shows a black-clad man at a nearby archaeological site inside Mosul, drilling through and destroying a winged-bull Assyrian protective deity that dates back to the 7th-century BC.

IS ‘bulldozed’ ancient Assyrian city of Nimrud, Iraq says

The Islamic State group began bulldozing the ancient Assyrian city of Nimrud in Iraq, the government said, in the jihadists’ latest attack on the country’s historical heritage.

IS “assaulted the historic city of Nimrud and bulldozed it with heavy vehicles,” the tourism and antiquities ministry said on an official Facebook page.

An Iraqi antiquities official confirmed the news, saying the destruction began after noon prayers on Thursday and that trucks that may have been used to haul away artefacts had also been spotted at the site.

“Until now, we do not know to what extent it was destroyed,” the official said on condition of anonymity.

Nimrud, one of the jewels of the Assyrian era, was founded in the 13th century BC and lies on the Tigris River around 30 kilometres (18 miles) southeast of Mosul, Iraq’s second city and the main hub of IS in the country.

This made me laugh. What is the difference between Mosul and other ISIS-occupied territories of iraq? Why are only the people of Mosul traitors? Don't you live in iraq? Why don't you stop them?

Well for starters, The people of Mosul used to be real troublemakers, since day 1, harbouring terrorists such as Al-Zarqawi, targetting the Iraqi Military, and even the civilians we're throwing stones at the army, without any retaliation from the Iraqi army side.

When ISIS got into Mosul, not a single local resistance was made against them, and now they're crying like litte fucking bitches wanting to be "Liberated of ISIS", because of the shitty way ISIS is treating them.

The difference between Mosul, and the other Sunni arab populated areas in western Iraq, is that Sunni arab tribes of cities such as Ramadi & Anbar, we're showing fierce resistance against ISIS, albeit having limited ressources of ammo and weapons, they have sacrificied homes and lives defending the honour of their cities and Iraq as a whole

That's the different between the rats of Mosul, and the rest of Iraq.

But that's a bridge we have crossed, from now on, any of this trouble making from these Mosul pigs will be met with retaliation, filthy cowards.

An enterprising terrorist would have sold the artifacts and bought a ton of weapons and ammunition with the profits, instead of just smashing them.
