The average Irish girl is not too bad at all. I think Irish on average are a lot better looking than a lot of these nationalities that are put on a pedestal. Irish are not too bad looking at all. Why are so many Hollywood actors of Irish/British descent if they were that bad? Also a lot of Australians, Americans etc that are considered so good looking are actually of Irish/British descent. I could post loads of ordinary Irish girls from camogie sites that are really pretty. I think some people just like putting other people down to make themselves feel better. I've been to both Ireland and Australia and Australians are thought as as good looking and Irish are put down. Personally I think Irish are a nice looking race of people. I've never seen such wonderful colouring of hair and eyes as Irish people have. I really think people are not objective and just go with stereotypes and some stereotypes are good and some are not. If we believe what is out there than Brazilians and Swedes are the best looking people on the face of the Earth. Well I just think it is a lot of hype.

That's just a misconception. If you are naturally fair skinned then that is what is healthy for you. Tanned skin is not healthy for fair skin and as someone who lives in Australia I know this very well. If you want darker skinned women then go to Southern Europe. People who have lived in colder climates for many generations evolved in a way to lose pigmentation so that we can absorb vitamin D more easily through lower levels of sunlight according to scientists. Maybe not everyone understands that sense of humour and yes it could be cultural differences as well. A lot of the actors/actresses that are well known and popular today are mostly Americans of British & Irish backgrounds and also British, Irish and Australian actors and actresses so I'm not sure why people on here bash British & Irish looks so much. Sometimes it comes across as OTT and a bit of an inferiority complex. British & Irish aren't worse looking than other populations on average no matter what some people are trying to promote here. I personally like the look of British & Irish but I would be biased. It is okay to like the looks of your own ethnicity but that doesn't mean that other populations aren't good looking. Not everyone has the same tastes.

I've noticed with a lot of series now such as Game of Thrones, Vikings, The Last Kingdom etc that there are more Scandinavian and Dutch actors getting a bit more fame. I can understand with Vikings etc but even in Peaky Blinders and Chernobyl there have been more Scandinavians and Dutch.

Maybe not everyone understands that sense of humour and yes it could be cultural differences as well. A lot of the actors/actresses that are well known and popular today are mostly Americans of British & Irish backgrounds and also British, Irish and Australian actors and actresses so I'm not sure why people on here bash British & Irish looks so much. Sometimes it comes across as OTT and a bit of an inferiority complex. British & Irish aren't worse looking than other populations on average no matter what some people are trying to promote here. I personally like the look of British & Irish but I would be biased. It is okay to like the looks of your own ethnicity but that doesn't mean that other populations aren't good looking. Not everyone has the same tastes.

I've noticed with a lot of series now such as Game of Thrones, Vikings, The Last Kingdom etc that there are more Scandinavian and Dutch actors getting a bit more fame. I can understand with Vikings etc but even in Peaky Blinders and Chernobyl there have been more Scandinavians and Dutch.

Hmm.. I notice that Dutch/British marriages and relationships (or business partnerships) tend to be quite successful (not all of them) while, funny enough, the same can't be said between Dutch and Flemish (despite of us speaking the same language - but something meaning something entirely different). Maybe there are more cultural similarities between the Dutch and the Anglosphere than between the Dutch and the continent. It's just that we're far more blunt and direct than the British are (perhaps, in that respect, more like the Australians or the Americans).

Judging from older pictures and even relatively recent film material, British girls once had that same quality. They were something rather special too. I just wonder what happened and whether this can be prevented for the Irish.

Nothing remains the same, I'm afraid. They've also got the same orange faced slappers Britain has walking about but luckily to a lesser extent. One thing that made Ireland special was kind of odd it felt considering its location, there's something mystical about it that I feel's being lost. It was heavily Catholic and one wouldn't have had the same ease at finding Irish glamour models or porn actresses bar maybe that one Tiffany Chambers in the late 90s, so one truly felt a woman there, respected herself highly and made you work to earn her while. Now they've got their Ava van Rose's making noise and all that. It's a right shame but like I said to a lesser reach at least.

Alright. I decided to put the four countries (https://www.hofstede-insights.com/country-comparison/belgium,ireland,the-netherlands,the-uk/)(Ireland, UK, Netherlands and Belgium) next to the Hofstede Cultural Dimensions Model). Belgium is the real outlier in many ways with a much more hierarchical culture than the other tree. What makes the Netherlands an outlier in one field is that we're much more a culture of consensus seeking and Jante Law compared to the other three where there is more fierce competition and a conflict model. In Belgium, who you know is also more important than what you know. This has known to lead to some problems in Dutch-Belgian businesses where they are often seen as either slow or nepotist and the Dutch as know-it-alls. But what I do notice is that the Netherlands and Britain (the Brits are less about consensus and more about short-term gain than we are) have a close cultural match.

Well, hers, my mother was the Irish Catholic one whereas he was pretty much a product of his generation(boomer: 40's, 50's baby) and Lutheran in name and baptism only. He wasn't loyal and Irish women are not the kind that take kindly to such humiliation and rightly so, also the temperament was different, she was absolutely miserable in Denmark and missed her mother greatly, she was one of 12 children, so she was way more family oriented as the Irish are known to be. It became too much to bear. With me being born to an Irish Catholic woman and their ability at raising boys to be devoted tit clutchers early, I always sided with her so my choice was an easy one. America here we come. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't influenced by my early beginings. My mother's side often pointed out how cold, quirky and odd, I seemed. I still stare at strangers(which Danes don't mind but Americans loathe) and my humor's a bit more blue. I picked up some habits from ma's side as well, so I only seem to get me these days.

Far from accurate; Spain and France, for instance, are by no means more practicing than the Irish, especially today. Ireland's barely caught up with their "progressivism". Much like Sweden and Denmark call themselves Lutheran, those two are largely Catholic in name only.

I appreciate Andrea Corr because she plays the Irish tin whistle and piano like myself. As a child I enjoyed learning and playing both instruments, but as a teenager I didn't think it was cool playing on my Irish tin whistle in front of teens in my peer group because none of the kids at school played it and it wasn't seen as cool, but thankfully Andrea has made the Irish tin whistle acceptable and cool.

I was walking some dogs in a park yesterday and encountered a friendly Irish man with very similar little freckles and pale skin to myself. I find them very friendly people and I didn't feel tense when he stopped to take a rest and sat next to me with his dog on a park bench and smiled and started talking. I'd briefly encountered him the previous day walking his dog and he was there with his son.

I also often see a friendly Irish woman with her adorable and cute little dog in the park too who often stops to talk to people. She also makes me smile too.

Irish people (both men and women) have a friendly aura about them that just makes people feel comfortable and relaxed. It's very easy to make good and long-lasting friendships with them.

When my mum went on a holiday trip to County Kerry, she said the Irish people were the most friendliest and welcoming people ever (and she's visited lots of nations around the globe.)

There's nothing wrong with posting famous people whose pictures aren't stolen from facebook and whose photos are in the media and public domain.

Everyone else posts models in the threads on Albanians, Romanians, Croatians, Slavs, Balkanites, Russians, Latinos, etc. They're not posting large crowds of the everyday people there on those threads.

There is something in their eyes(which I didn't get. :laugh:) I am pretty friendly but there's nothing warm about my face. I sort of have somewhat of a perpetual frown which is something people like to attribute to Germanic people.

They have a knack for it, and they've spread it beyond, even Irish Americans are known for being chatter boxes. I once got chatted up by this one Aussie while abroad, wanted a smoke from me and after he lit it, he just began to talk. Name was: O'Shea, knew he was Irish by looking at the face alone.

Agreed. Hospitable even in the diaspora. I reckon that's been the most effective weapon used against them. It truly makes me happy when I hear of how much warmer relations between the English and Irish are now because, I was surrounded by some great-uncles that were just bitter bastards, hillarious and a good laugh but simply bitter. Felt like a traitor for being so fond of England but they exported everything I liked as a youngster from musicians to writers, humourists and poets. They'll both have a greater chance at persevering if they bare in mind their kinship and proximity above troubles of yore.

It's very rare. It's also rare among the Welsh. I'm not really into anthropological terminology because as I've stated on this forum many times it's a load of twaddle but Atlanto-med hardly ever occurs.
