If you could choose to have another culture/nation/ethnicity than the one you are born in or live as; what would it be and why?

I'm not going to pick any of the cultures/ethnicities of my ancestors or any of the closely related ones, because that's almost like cheating with a question like this...

So, I've always thought it might be cool to be Spanish. OK, I think it's because I like the album Sketches of Spain by Miles Davis...it just gives me a cool Spanish vibe.

There are traits I like and I dislike in almost every culture. My aim is perfection, which excludes any cultural or ethnic identity because the upper claim of "-" and "+" sides of everything terrestrial. However, that's impossible since we have genes, connecting us with our ancestors, not only physically but mentally and spiritually.

India. I just have a lot of respect for their culture, and it doesn't hurt that their food is good. :D

Agreed. They are so driven and smart. And their women (among the upper classes) are so beautiful. They are the only ones left who practice the old religion(s) in an unbroken tradition. Their women are impossible to get because they are so ethnocentric and traditional, but if you are one of them, it's not even difficult to get one, they have arranged tail! Lucky bastards! :p

French have a thing for prehistory , futuristic stuff (Jean Michel Jarre , la Dèfense , the Raelians etc) celtic traditions , no limits sport and I like it but they got too subversive as regards to race , feminism , multilike stuff and I don't like , moreover I don't like French language and their phenotype (too alpinid for my taste) so if I were borne there overall I wouldn't have gained.

Ok I put it short and choose Germans , master race plus great traditions in literature , philosophy and arts.

What's confusing? Something like 35,000+ doctors in the US are Indian (including the one who saved my life.), which is amazing considering their small numbers in the US. Their women are hot, this is a fact. And no, I'm not talking about women from the cremation and leather tanning class. Hindu Dharma is the only potent expression of indigenous religion left not to be wiped out by Hammies and Christers. Their women are traditional and ethnocentric, and quite frankly their men are lucky for being able to marry them.

Eskimo.
Skræling!:D

Two Cree lads, whom. I had engaged at Oxford House to accompany me on the journey, and who had gone through the farce of signing contracts to remain in my service faithfully for the period of one year, now pleaded sickness as an excuse for wishing to return to their homes. The whole way along, I knew very well that by every one we met they had been dissuaded from undertaking the journey. Pictures of hordes of cannibal Eskimo devouring raw human flesh had been placed vividly before their imaginations by other Indians, one and all of whom have a dread of approaching " Husky " or Eskimo land. The lade were finally so overcome with horror and dismay at the mere prospect of getting anywhere near such terrible savages as the Eskimo, that I fancy they really were sick from sheer fright.

English, I love their posh arrogant accent and attitude, tradition. Then German, them for being efficient, strong though somewhat less entertaining than English, and perhaps Swedish, Scandinavian countries are quite orderly but why Swedish, maybe because I like blue-yellow color combination than red-white:D, their women are probably hotter than in Dennmark or Norway. :D And, when I think of Sweden I think somehow of being rational.
Some other ethnicities too (Russian, Greek etc.), but I better limit the number.

English or Afrikaans (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afrikaner). As a matter of fact if South Africa would not have had the problems (including the very presence of the Bantu) it has today I would have given it a good thought whether the country could not be my new homeland.

Think about it: they speak English as well as Afrikaans which is closely related to Dutch, the country is effing huge and along parts of the coast the climate is good (like the Cote d' Azure). So there are plenty of opportunities and I frankly wouldn't know why I would be wasting my time in my beloved yet overpopulated fatherland while I could just as well try my luck in a country whose culture is relatively closely aligned to our own and where without the Bantu the country would be relatively safe and yet big enough for adventures.

The golden land of opportunity. :thumb001:

shit this is a tough one being an American you only get scraps of the customs from your ancestors...none out of our ancestry eh, um let's see, well in Europe an Icelander, an Englishman(they're really funny), a Scott or a Finn people with nice folklore
outside of it well guess it have to be an Eskimo or a Mongolian(I'd be ugly as shit but at least I'll know my way around rough places) I kinda always wanted an igloo.

Hungarian. It seems that one is still pretty much allowed to think in that country, and they have a proud, and very specific, history that lends itself easily to nationalism. In fact, it's one of the few countries in Europe where the number of residents who are ethnic natives is over 97%, and the number of believing Christians is over 70%. Jews account for just 0.1% of the whole population, and Mohammedans don't even register in terms of numbers. The whole country has only 300(!) Africans, and the Turks are such a small contingency they don't even register. If they could get their birthrates back up to Cold War levels, it would be the single most European country in Europe.

But I haven't specified which Viking ethnicity, so resident members tell me who hits harder with an axe and whose females are hotter: Swedes, Norwegians or Danes?

Ah yes forgot Russkies, they come close too. Nobody makes better military parades in Europe for some decades already!

The Norwegians could slaughter em' all:) As for the women? I dunno....both nations are about dead even. As for the men? Same.....but I love Northern men so that was easy.....lol!

Currently, it's a tough question, given how most European cultures are on an express train towards self-obliteration, and few of them even bother to put up any serious resistance.

With that in mind, I'd definitely name the Finns. An utterly unique culture in a far corner of Europe with mystically beautiful folk traditions and a history of standing up bravely against the enemies of the Old Continent and its values; very efficiently, at that.

Even in less heroic times (like now), they have the strongest "far-right" faction in all the former First World, and they readily kick their gypsies in the butt whenever they show their nature, PC be damned. A nation with a spine.

And of course, we definitely have some common historical things going on.

Scotland made a very good impression on me, people were so very nice, and Edinburgh was lovely to look at. There's also the greater discipline, people here are nice but damn are they lazy. I agree. There is a huge Indian population in my town recently because a lot of tech firms are located here. Indian engineers are all arrogant and vicious, especially when it comes to business (my husband has first hand experience).
