I'm not trolling, they share a similar history, being wandering peoples, rejected by their host countries, and before israel both were nations without territories.

there are lots of nations without terretories and i would say romany have more in common with the european irish travellers then with jews if we go by culture alone or nomadic lifestyle, there are so many nomadics in the world though or who are rejected by their host countries etc. jews are very different though as jews had a empire before the romans destroyed israel and send them to diaspora, jews have a alphabet a religious book which is founder of the main religion of europe, etc. but that being said they dont feel related at all, i said indians because i know some indians do, like the president of hindu universal society who said european union should apologise to gypsies for persecution then there was this canadian indian politican who attacked france for kicking out gypsies, i know that some indians feel related to gypsies but not any jew though. so your idea is far fetched.

The most popular music genre in Romania is manele(Gypsy crap pseudo-music) and there are many gypofied Rumanians called ''cocalari'' that immitate Gypsies, just like American wiggers do with their blacks. The majority of youth and many stupid peasants of all ages are like this. There is some Gypsy admixture too and most Gypsies just claim to be ethnic Romanians and are accepted as such, despite being mostly brown skinned and non-European looking. So maybe it's Romanians. No other people or country likes Gypsies, but stupid Rumanians love Gypsies!:picard1:

I thought you Turks are very related to Gypsies, so why it should be Romania? Just because the names are quite similar? Oh, please, this has nothing to do with it. What about the Turkish culture and history? Both of you came from Asia and both of you are nomadic. Although, you share the same religious traditions, same traditional music, you have the largest percentage of Gypsies in Turkey, but you look exactly the same and there's no difference at all... I mean, if you put Turks, Gypsies & Arabs in a single room (for example), most of other people's opinion would say they look very similar each other. Too bad Vlad Țepeș is not alive anymore, especially for you.

whaat? LOL I was just saying that we in the BALKANS are close to Gypsy culture as we shared the same space for so long. I live in Romania, I know what I'm saying: Romanians listen to MANELE GYPSY MUSIC and watch telenovelas featuring GYPSY STORIES with Nicoleta Luciu and others on ACASĂ TV.

Balkans are not ethnically Gypsy but we live together here and we borrow much one from another and I don't know why some DISSOCIATE that much from Gypsies and even say that "there aren't that many" or "they live in their own communities, they have nothing to do with us"... why can't we just be honest and FRIENDS all the people in the world, at least all us here in the Balkans

Actually, around 14% of Romanian population (including Gypsies) listens to Manele music which is a Turkish-derived genre performed by lăutari in a lăutărească manner, while the "modern manele" are a mixture of Turkish, Greek, Arabic, Bulgarian and Serbian elements, generally using modern (electronic) instruments and beats.
Proof:
http://www.tvdece.ro/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/image-2013-10-8-15758062-0-grafic-1.jpg
Manele is one of the most hated genre of music in Romania if you didn't know.
Speaking of living in Romania, why many of you Turks are coming here in Romania? We don't need Muslims here and we firstly disrespect you. I know three Turkish families living in my neighborhood side and I can hear how they're passionated to Manele (Gypsy) music & they're fucking annoying with their typical attitude they really have, don't forget they also behave kinda like Gypsies, instead they have houses, but they're making a lot of kids & still don't know how to educate themselves.

Romania is not fully Balkanic. Is it all right I don't want to be friends with you? No offence, but I think Greeks are more friends with us than we are with you.

Possibly by lifestyle but Irish Travellers are just a subset of Irish people. They are just people that took to the road possibly over 2,000 years ago and have intermarried mostly with themselves. Some Irish Travellers are steeped in Irish culture and have really kept some very old traditional songs alive into the modern era. They aren't like Romansh or Welsh Kale who have an actual outside origin. Irish Travellers are completely indigenous to the British Isles.

I have traveller ancestry but it's on my american side.
recent enough though that there's lots of copper pots to be inherited and my mum is protective of travellers.
surnames like "pinney" and "tinker" ...
tinker was 100 years ago what pikey is today ...
anyhow. i do think there might be a certain restlessness in the DNA.
they've traced the language of the travellers, and some of it is older than old irish.
may be they're folk who never settled, kept moving about.
still our people, at the end of the day.

I'm curious since you were born and raised back home, do travellers in ireland get on well with settled people?
here in the states they have a generally positive relationship with the irish american community and tend to abstain from ripping off people who seem to be of irish origin.
(they do rip others off sometimes though. )

I was born there but only partially raised. No they don't really have a good reputation in Ireland and there are a lot of problems. Like any group there are some good and some bad. They are undoubtedly Irish though and the friction is caused by the same issues as elsewhere. There are a lot of Travellers that rip people off and because of their lifestyle a lot of the children don't get a good education. I think a lot of problems with people having difficulties runs both ways and it would be the same with the Roma.

The Travellers do keep some traditional music and songs alive and as I said they are Irish. Some Travellers have done well and have went on to get a uni education so all credit to them. A lot of the Irish boxing team come from Traveller stock and are fantastic boxers. This possibly stems from their tradition of bare knuckle boxing.

Some examples of great Travellers:

Johnny Doran - one of the most influential uilleann pipers in the history of Irish music. His great-grandfather was the celebrated Wexford piper John Cash.

http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg13/picscavenger/c1955BallycastleCoAntrim-Copy.jpg

Paddy Keenan another great uilleann pipe play and founding member of the Bothy Band. He has had a great influence of modern Irish music.

John Reilly from my father's home town. He had a very large influence on many traditional and folk singers.

Patrick "Pecker" Dunne an Irish musician and seanchaí. Pecker looks a bit Romany I think.
