A two minute rant by Thai celebrity Duangjai Phichitamphon about the unruly behavior of Chinese tourists at a Korean airport has gone viral, sparking furious online debate and condemnation by the media in Thailand.
Although we are not quite sure why she is famous, at present she has close to 130,000 followers on Facebook. After being uploaded to the social media platform, it was not long before the video reached a large audience.
According to Liberty Times Net, the story made it into several newspapers in Thailand yesterday, featuring headlines such as "Chinese Tourists Again Bring Shame on Chinese People."
In the video, the angry Duangjai is seen being pushed around by a throng of Chinese scrambling for a tax refund booth, claiming that everyone was queuing in an orderly fashion before a Chinese tour group turned up.
Touching on what is becoming a somewhat awkward topic these days, she goes on to complain about the state of the toilets at the airport, implying the Chinese were responsible for dirtying them.
The video has since been subtitled with English and Chinese by another Facebook user.

The Thai model who last week recorded a video in which she ranted about the behavior of Chinese tourists has since seen her Facebook page overrun by people insulting her in both Chinese and English.
Since the video portraying Chinese tourists in a somewhat negative light made headlines in the mainland, new posts by Duangjai Phichitamphon on her open Facebook page attract hundreds of abusive comments left in both Chinese and English.
In the video, which has since been viewed millions of times across various different online platforms, the angry model is seen being pushed around by a throng of Chinese scrambling for a tax refund counter. She accuses them of steping on her feet and pushing their way to the front of the line.
Hong Kong publication Passion Times speculates that those lashing out at the model are angry Chinese who have somehow circumvented Chinese internet restrictions, wumao commentators hired by the Chinese government to shape public opinion, and Blue Ribbon supporters in Hong Kong.
Most of the comments follow a general theme, accusing Duangjai of being transgender, having gone through plastic surgery, or insulting Thailand for being a poor and degenerate country. For example:

Some of the comments are incredibly scathing, like these posts from Facebook users who indicate they are from mainland China:

The avalanche of comments has reached such an extent that Phichitamphon has decided to delete the video from her Facebook page. That, however, hasn't deterred commenters from flooding her page. Some are now rallying online to apologize for the abuse she has received over the past few days.

In the above image, the first comment in Chinese reads: "Filthy ladyboy." The second reads: "Hello, I'm from Taiwan. Please don't think that us Chinese speakers are all without civility... I don't like to admit that these people who insult you are my compatriots."
One user from Hong Kong apparently saw the funny side:
