This is the first time I listened to this anthem:

q9zNUD3_WpU

Am I the only one who finds parts of it strinkingly similar to the Polish anthem?

This is funny :)

ItyVs-RIoDw

The union between the glorious countries of Bulgaria,Croatia,Hungary nd Poland is stronger than anything and soon all of Eastern Europe will be ours.

I dedicate this to Hippa ;)

P.S.

Slovaks may not like this :P

Glory to Jugoslavija! It won't be too long until it rises again from the ashes (2012 is my guess). :evil

I love those pics of Hungarians with feathers, especially on horseback with Eastern-type chainmail and roundshields :)

They look almost exactly like a Polish XVII-cen "towarzysz pancerny":

This one is for Hippo and all you other Slav lovers!

Tekst:

Uz maršala Tita, junačkoga sina
nas neće ni pakao smest'.
Mi dižemo čelo, mi kročimo smelo
i čvrsto stiskamo pest.

Rod prastari svi smo, a Goti mi nismo,
Slavenstva smo drevnoga čest.
Ko drukčije kaže, kleveće i laže,
Našu ce osjetit' pest.

Sve prste na ruci u jadu i muci
Partizanska stvorila je svijest.
Pa sad kad i treba, do sunca do neba
Visoko mi dižemo pest.

Na engleskom:

Together with Marshall Tito, the heroic son
not even Hell shall stop us.
We raise our foreheads, we walk onwards
and we clench our fists hard.

We are all of pristine upbringing, and Goths we are not
Part of ancient Slavdom we are.
Whoever says otherwise slanders and lies,
and will feel our fist.

All fingers upon our hands, in misery and suffering
The Partisans awareness has created.
And now when we need it, to the sun, to the sky,
We raise our fists high.

Hey, Slavs :) Just want to share with you one beautiful Russian song from opera "Prince Igor" composed by Alexander Borodin. It's called "The Polovtsian Dances".

Performed by Russian singer Natalia Morozova:

Performed by Norwegian singer Sissel (this redone version of Warren G and Sissel song "Prince Igor" contains only the Russian chorus with Sissel, apart from the end when Warren G raps a bit):

WahcTznCRm4

Lyrics on Russian:

"Улетай на крыльях ветра
Ты в край родной, родная песня наша.
Туда, где мы тебя свободно пели,
Где было так привольно нам с тобою.

Там, под знойным небом,
Негой воздух полон;

Approximate translation into English:

"Fly away on the wings of the wind
To our homeland,
O native song of ours.
Thither, where we freely sang you,
Where it was so free for me and you.

There, under the sultry sky,
The air is full of bliss;
There, under the murmur of the sea,
The hills slumber under the clouds.
There the sun shines so brightly,
Our native hills are flooded with light,
In the valleys splendid roses bloom,
Nightingales sing in the green forests,
And the sweet grape grows.
There is more free for you, o song,
(you) fly away there"
