People living in Kenya's Dadaab refugee camp are asking the government to reconsider its decision to close it. The Kenyan government has given the UN three months to relocate the camp. It is one of the world's largest, sheltering around half a million Somali refugees who fled civil war in their country.Al jazeera's Mohammed Adow reports from Dadaab refugee camp.

It will be done...and the NFD is already a no go zone for Kenyans except their military, sort of like the Northwest territories/Waziristan.

Through my limited knowledge on this topic, i think Somalis were moderate, fun-loving Sufis until Saudi Arabians used their oil money to spread Islamist fascism. People act like Al shabaab is some random terrorist group and Kenya is an unsuspecting victim. Al Shabaab wants to control Somalia, and Kenya along with AMISOM is actively getting in their way.

Somalis were never 'fun loving sufis'. Sufism had a strong presence but was never mainstream. Somalis are shafi'ite Sunnis, like Indonesians or Yemenis or Hejazis or Egyptians (or non-Ismaili Gujaratis, and most Muslims of Kerala).

Al Shabab (the youth) evolved out of the militant wing of the union of Islamic courts (Maxaakimka). Who were moderate, had Sufi aswell as secular supporters, non-takfeeri and brought stability to Mogadishu and the southern third of Somalia in 2006. The United States wouldnt have any of that, so they demanded Ethiopia invade on its behalf, which it did. And subsequently most the moderate UIC guys (who were mostly scholars educated in sharia and fiqh) were killed off and assasinated. So basically Al Shabaab were the "Hitler Youth" of the pacifist, jurist-focused Mullahs.

All UIC wanted was to have Judges run Somalia, instead of warlords and thugs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kritarchy

By 2010-2011, the militant wing received the return of Somalis (and for the first time, foreign fighters) returning from places like Afghanistan and Iraq, many who were indeed Al Qaeda-esque takfeeris, and when Al Shabaab pledged allegiance to AQAP in 2011, the rest became history.

What would Saudi Arabia benefit from promoting al Qaeda ideologies in Somalia? So that enemies of its monarchy have a base to train and operate from? Al Shabaab is the enemy of the Saudi Arabian regime, since they consider the Al Saud to be kafir.
