Gujaratis are (in a geographic sense) Western Indians who come under socio-cultural sphere of ancient northwest India, and (although, in many ways historically connected to those groups north of the vindhyas as per rig-vedic tradition) peoples, languages and cultures have separate identity and are quite unique from those of Hindi-speaking Northerners who are centered around UP/Bihar indo-Gangetic cow belt and esp Pahari states. Kaushal has a distinctive Gujarati alpine (brachycephalic) phenotype that is of Gujarati ethnic despite the light pigmentation. Some other similar examples, all strongly Indid and localized (that aren't particularly restricted to any one caste or geographic location within the Saurashtra)

Honestly, Kaushal has a very 'regional' look and that is likely what's throwing people off. Some users (dun93, jatt, casindrinos, etc..) have commented and I partly agree- she does not look South Indian, Pahadi or Punjabi. Gujarati Alpine types, however, can sometimes look racially ambiguous. Just that some people are able to pickup on her ethnic roots and others who haven't had exposure to such types do not.
