I am a huge admirer of “honest craftsmanship, natural materials, simple and
pure design, and harmonious family life.” (http://www.fredbecker.org/News%20Letter/HistoryCraftsman.htm)

The Arts and Crafts Movement was an international design movement that originated in Britain and flourished between 1880 and 1910. It was instigated by the artist and writer William Morris (1834–1896) in the 1860s and was inspired by the writings of John Ruskin (1819–1900). It influenced architecture, domestic design and the decorative arts, using simple forms and a medieval style of decoration. It advocated truth to materials, traditional craftsmanship and economic reform.

Examples of the Arts and Crafts style:

OMGs!! I love anything Arts and Crafts. William Morris was a genius! (He deserves his own thread too! :D) His art/wallpaper is simply gorgeous!

I have this amazing gardening book called Gardens of the Arts and Crafts Movement by Judith B. Tankard. William Robinson and Gertrude Jekyll were geniuses as well!

I'll have more to say a bit later when I re-peruse this coffee table book that I got halfway through last year. Time to re-read it (and finish it!) and report back! :thumb001:
