Prague, April 22 (CTK) - Seventy-three percent of Czechs oppose the idea that everybody who is living in the country should have the right to be granted Czech citizenship, which is the highest number ever, according to the STEM opinion poll conducted in March and released Wednesday.

In early 2014, 67 percent were against this right to get Czech citizenship.

Two thirds of Czechs (67 percent) consider foreigners a security risk to the Czech Republic, compared to 60 percent one year ago.

Only 31 percent said all ethnic minorities should be allowed to live according to their own traditions, while 69 percent were against it. In 2014, 46 percent said they would let the minorities live according to their traditions.

Especially people in their 30s and early 40s and university graduates have become less tolerant to the different life styles of ethnic minorities.

The pollsters said this seems to be related to the terrorist attack on the seat of the Charlie Hebdo satirical magazine in Paris in January.

Nearly half of the respondents (47 percent) share the view that Czechs have no prejudice against foreigners.
