Terrorist group, Boko Haram, has reportedly stepped foot on Zimbabwean soil and heading to South Africa, multiple Zimbabwean news websites have reported.

They cited the country’s Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) as the information source.

CIO was said to have issued an intelligence report warning that Boko Haram is in Zimbabwe, en route to Matebeleland, a Zimbabwe region, which shares border with South Africa.

It was reported that the South African intelligence has alerted police in Matebeleland about Boko Haram’s possible infiltration of South Africa.

According to Zimbabwean news medium, Harare24, police officers were called for duty on Wednesday, April 29 around 9.pm and have now temporarily been camped at selected police stations – supposedly to strategise how to be ready for the sect.

The reports say Boko Haram is out to avenge the ill treatment of Nigerians in the ongoing xenophobic attacks in South Africa. The reports have not been confirmed by the police in Zimbabwe.
