So far from what I can see there have been two studies done on the Y-DNA haplogroups present among the Bakhtiari people of Iran. Now I do find it a bit strange that these two studies got some different results when it comes to the Y-DNA haplogroup composition of the Bakhtiaris from Izeh. The first study from back in 2008 by Nasidze which was based on Y-SNP testing shows a high frequency of both J2 and G among the Bakhtiaris from Izeh but the second study by Roewer which is based on 17 marker Y-STR haplotypes has a lot of J2 showing up among the Bakhtiari samples from Izeh which makes sense still but barely any G. The Bakhtiari samples in both of these studies come from Izeh which makes me think that it is quite possible that the same Bakhtiari samples from the older Nasidze study were just re-used again. I see that Nasidze worked on the later 2009 study with Roewer which makes it seem even more likely that the same Bakhtiari samples from Izeh were used again. Maybe I am wrong though and Roewer tested a different group of Bakhtiari men from Izeh I do not know. I just find it strange how one study would dhow a lot of both Y-DNA haplogroups J2 and G among a sample of Bakhtiari from Izeh but then another study using Bakhtiari samples from Izeh that came out a year later shows a lot of J2 which makes sense but barely any G. I wonder what is actually going on here? Any thoughts?
