Most Westerners, particularly Americans, are aware of Native Americans origins across the Bering Straights but perhaps are unaware that Shamanism still is practiced in Siberia and is not limited to Native Americans.

In fact;


Shamanism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shamanism_in_Siberia) represents a large minority in Northern Asia, particularly Siberia, which is regarded by some as the heartland of shamanism

Even the stereotype of a Native American as portrayed by Johnny Depp in the recent movie The Lone Ranger is mirrored amongst Siberians:
