Are you close to your family members? POLL

Do you get along well with your parents, siblings, grandparents, extend-family, etc.? Is there one or two people you can confide in best or are closest to? Do you hate any of your relatives? I ask because I'm interested in the differing familial perspectives of the TA community. Everyone comes from different backgrounds and countries, so this is a good place to ask and see what the experience of everyone is. Feel free to expand.

Personally, I thing the greatest gift a man can give is fatherhood - and not just fathering a child, but parenting a child. Without my father to guide my siblings and I, I would not be the happy, moral young woman I am today. Having good parents really can impact a person forever. I am one of the few cases I know of that has divorced parents who are great friends, and both my parents are good role models in my life. The early years of their separation were difficult, but because of my mom and dad's diligence to raise us well, we were able to prosper. Not everything has been easy in my family. I have cousins who are estranged, weird uncles, and a semi-crazy grandma, but I get along pretty well with most of my family.

I have to say I get along splendidly with all my family members. Weirdly, no one in my family or extended family has ever divorced. When I was a child, my Ukrainian grandfather lived with us. I used to hate when he came home drunk from church. The priest served vodka to the men after services. Disturbing. :D Next week, Memorial Day holiday (USA), I will be with many of my relatives. We traditionally play croquet. This is because we are hardcore. :D

I get along well much more with my mother than with my father. And about other relatives, i get along well with all my grandparents, cousins and aunts/uncles.

I am close with my immediate family (parents, siblings). I have varying degrees of closeness with cousins/aunts/uncles (family lives close to one another), a better relationship with my grandparent(s) & when was alive a fantastic one with a great-grandparent. Long-term friends are often treated more like family, such as a childhood friend I see more as a brother, than people unrelated by blood too.

I am very close to my parents and one uncle and his spouse. I have a rather dysfunctional set of first cousins and once removed cousins. Fortunately I'm pretty close to my trans-continental family members, albeit there aren't a lot of them around.

I'm not really close to any of them, but I'm not estranged either.

We have a good relationship, but it's not like we're close.
