So ok, I managed to get through the first 4 episodes of Season One and I'm hooked!

I love it! From the cast to the characters to the setting to the plot line(s) to the dialogue to (yes) the love story--it's all greatly entertaining and so much different than the Twilight franchise. It's grittier and, if one could possibly imagine this when speaking about vampires, vastly more believable!

I'm looking forward to viewing the rest of the episodes--working my way towards getting up to snuff with the rest of the world. ;) :vampire

I have watched the first 3 series from the first season, but I don't like the actors (yes, including Sookie) and all this "sex scenes" are looking little bit cheap and vulgar. :D

saw a few episodes, seemed alright but a tad too graphic for my tastes.

Well indeed it is graphic. Not for the faint of heart to be sure. But the series creator is the gentleman who created the other HBO hit Six Feet Under. Cutting edge television (if such a thing exists) and vastly more entertaining than any and all of these mindnumbingly vapid 'reality' shows that seem to still be popular.

I like the show, but to be honest I wish it was mostly focused on vampires and humans. Maybe it's because I tend to dislike sci-fi genre in general, but I think all the other supernatural characters they're bringing into the show are annoying. I'd say more, but I don't want to give it away for you if you've just started watching it. I'm seriously impressed by the Swedish actor's American accent. I know Swedes tend to have pretty good English and learn it from a young age, but his accent is absolutely perfect and as far as I know he was raised in Sweden. I read that they actually asked him to sound less American for the character and slip a bit of a Swedish accent in.

The hatefuck scene in a recent episode was their "jump the shark" moment and I can't take it even slightly seriously anymore, but it's still entertaining.

Hmmm...intriguing comments. I had better hurry up! :D

"Jump the shark" as in Fonzerelli shark jumping???? :D

Yes'm. It was unintentionally hilarious and utterly ludicrous.

A (male) friend of mine told me to check this series out, so the first thing I did was to check if it was made by HBO or Showtime, which means it’s suitable for Europeans. Haha. <3 HBO <3

I watch it almost purely for the vivid characters and well written dialogues. The various plots of the series are hit and miss for my taste, and I find some of the things downright ridiculous.
I don’t know much about the southern culture but True Blood have convinced me.

Most of the actors behind the characters do it extremely well, especially many of the minor ones such as:
Hoyt Fortenberry – So sweet and gentle that you wish him the best and the actor pulls it off. Nice.
Maxine Fortenberry – Hoyt’s mother who is a mean person but has been deeply hurt in the past, and now tries to stop Hoyt leaving her home because she’s afraid of being alone. Her actions are not justified but the actor I brilliant.
Steve Newlin – Eeew sick! His slick ways makes me vomit. Good actor.
Magister – Pretty scary. Cold and calculated. Perfect actor for the job.
Adele Stackhouse – Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! I wanted to see her a lot more! <3
And the talented William Sanderson as Sheriff Bud Dearborne. Holy shit! Everything that man touches is gold.
Lafayette – This one is self-explanatory. :P

I don't agree with you at all about single scenes being too vulgar and whatnot. The neck-break-scene was awesome I think and just as awesome as Erics violent hunger scene in season 2 episode 2. For me it was the whole deal with the Maenad that was bullocks and nazi-werewolves. But as I understand it werewolves/shifters will be a huge part of it from now on. I hope they can make it work.
Another funny scene was in the beginning of season 3 where Eric killed a guy in Sookie's house and he bleed all over. He said dryly: "I got your rug all wet." :D

As someone who lives in the deep South.... It really is that spooky in some places.

You almost expect shit to go "bump in the night" some places around here.....

And still have the decency to say "Excuse me" :thumb001:

Shows like this need guest stars like Blade, Simon Belmont, Solomon Kane, Vampire Hunter D, or maybe this guy:

The recent profusion of pale undead freaks needs to be dealt with- with extreme prejudice. :)

If you can find it, try to watch the X-Files episode Bad Blood for good vampire TV watchin.

There have been many books, tv-series and movies about vampires the past decade. I have indulged in the following:

Movies
Bram Stoker's Dracula (1993) - Great. Oldham is incredible.
Interview with the Vampire (1994) - A little slow a times but overall a very good movie.
Blade (1998) - Entertaining action. I never heard of a 'day-walker' before. Great concept.
I Am Legend (2007) - What a piece of shit.
Let the Right One In (2008) - Wow. So different, so awesome.
Twilight (2008) - lol shit. One long commercial for abstinence and teenage whining.

Television
True Blood (2008-Present) - Oh, my stars! (lol)

Considering the huge vampiric shit pile to choose from, my consumption is small. I think I've seen the best vampire movies the from the last ~20 years.

I enjoyed every minute of Rome as well as Band of Brothers. Truly two of the best series/mini-series ever in terms of production. They were simply astonishing.

This looks relly good for a 'normal' tv-series. I think Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0485842/) and Deadwood (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0348914/) are the only tv-series I've watched which come close production wise.

I will give you that, I generally only watch HBO TV series. However, some of the stuff in True Blood really was over the top, I'm thinking where Bill Compton twists around the girl's head during the sex scene. my mom is a fan, and it surprised me as hell to watch an episode with her :p

Does Anna Paquin do all the nude scenes herself or is it a body double? If it is her, she has a fantastic body.

Dang! I just finished watching Season Two a couple of days ago and now have to "find" Season Three. :P

About Season Two: It wasn't bad overall. I liked how it had taken a different turn from Season One. It just showed me that it tried not to be too formulaic and it expanded a repertoire of Other Beings--they might come handy during Seasons 7 and 8 (if it ever gets there of course) ;) :D.

It was interesting to see a very vulnerable Lafayette (one outlandish MOFO but one of my favourite characters for sure). It took me a while to adjust to his vulnerability but it was a good turn in character development I truly think.

Lots of interesting character development though and I like that there's been a true bond created between Sookie and Eric now. Very interesting.

Ok got more to say later. Now I must set a table for dinner. :P LOL
