Seeing the East European, I wonder whether or not there had been some infusion of Slavic blood in the British Isles back in some understudied part of their history?

i dont think it was real eastern europeans who came to britain like poles or russians etc. such thing is not documented but i guess the components arent that strictly seperated, europeans anyways all have a common origin though, i guess its from the common european origin

Here's mine. Calculator is way off as a distance of 8.6 is not particularly close. We all have East European because of the spread of R1b and R1a which only spread through Europe in the last 5,000 years. That's my take on it anyway. That why there are things like Volga-Uralic etc. Looking at the Celto_Germanic and the difference between my mother and myself I would guess Western Irish would score the highest in this component.

Some of Jackson's family score very highly too, though they don't generally score particularly NW.

From those results I would not assume you had any Dutch ancestry since your top five matches are all British Isles. It just reinforces my opinon that GEDmatch basically cannot distinguish between Irish, British, Dutch and sometimes Danish and German. I think there are differences and, hopefully, in the near future there will more powerful DNA tests which will be able to pick them out.

Thanks. I am inclined to believe that as well. Even in agreement i also believe my english side could be pulling heavily to the west. My English ancestors are a complete mystery, due to my common surname in the Devon/Cornwall region. My three dutch sides are all well documented down to the mid 1500s and i tend to share large amounts of DNA segments with Dutch in those family regions on 23andme. Than it usually goes Germans, Swedes, Belgians and oddly Russia.

Thanks. I am inclined to believe that as well. Even in agreement i also believe my english side could be pulling heavily to the west. My English ancestors are a complete mystery, due to my common surname in the Devon/Cornwall region. My three dutch sides are all well documented down to the mid 1500s and i tend to share large amounts of DNA segments with Dutch in those family regions on 23andme. Than it usually goes Germans, Swedes, Belgians and oddly Russia.

It would be interesting to have the results of a sibling, as for example with my mother and aunt they have the same ancestry but there are noticeable differences in their admixture results, although not much - my aunt is further shifted west compared to my mother for example, so it could be that you inherited more of the British stuff which puts you more onto that side, while a sibling might be more balanced or might look more Dutch. Just a thought.

MDLP 12 & all its earlier creations are outdated and not good. You can see that by the Oracles. Nothing fits well. All they do is confuse people.

I honestly don't know. In fact, my understanding flops after I read the outright percentages ( Celto- Germanic, umpteenth percent, etc). I'd suggest Longbowman, Graham or Jackson would be the best people to offer an explanation. I just take it to mean that I'm genetically closer or further from a population and the smaller the number, the more closely related I am to the population in question.

No. 0 would be 'you match the Frisian reference sample 100%' although you could still be a mixture of two or more groups. At lower K, lower distances are more likely.

On one calculator I get 0 for Adyghei + Sardinian + Moroccan Jewish + something. But I'm none of those.

Im not sure you understand how this works, it's his oracle, it doesn't tell anything about population's distances to each others. It's an outdated calculator and there's no Lebanese sample in it anyway.
