More similar to some kind of various ideologies mixed together rather than an Islamic branch.

Shia Islam is an Islamic sect, though it has gotten Persianized from it's original Arabian roots.

Persianized? How?

Shiaism originated as political movement in Yemen, it's theological development occurred in Iraq, and it's followers were mostly concentrated in Eastern Arabia and Southern Lebanon. Shiaism was more of an Arab movement. It was only when the Persian decided to take a unique sect to make them distinct from the Uzbeks and Ottomans and to keep Iran as it's own culture if you will. Persianization of Shiaism mostly occurred by the Persian theologian Muhammad Baqir Majlisi, however the Arab role was very important, because it was ultimately them who would spread Shiaism, and many of the Iranian clergy had Arab roots from Southern Lebanon Jabil Amal and Bahrain, but the Lebanese clerics were by far the largest. So a lot of Iranian clerks are in fact of Arab Lebanese origins.
