this article writes about them as if they are no longer on this earth but there still are small numbers in several islands that were around well into the 1950s and up until this very day they can be found.

no brethren i say they still live to this day, you can find them in several islands mainly barbados in small numbers, i am upset that most articles on them states that they are no longer with us like ghosts of the past but you can still find some.

Reminds me of those poor whites that could hardly eke out a living from the rocky soil of the Ozark mountains.
While in the lowlands the plantations controlled all of the arable land for cotton production.

they are often compared as such, in fact one of the articles attached to the wiki article i think states that.
the slave masters of the american colonies were the same as the caribbean colonies so the pattern does not change much,
think about how in america they say red neck to describe poor whites,
red legs are similiar in that sense
