Taika Waititi (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taika_Waititi) , also known as Taika Cohen, is a New Zealand film director, writer, painter, comedian, and actor.

He was nominated for an Academy Award for his 2004 short film Two Cars, One Night.

His 2010 film Boy became the top grossing film in New Zealand, and was released internationally in 2012.

Waititi hails from the Raukokore area of the East Coast region of New Zealand. His father is a Maori of Te Whānau-ā-Apanui and his mother is Jewish. Waititi used his mother's surname Cohen for some of his work in film and writing.

That's because he is predominantly European. Taika's father isn't even half Maori. He's stated his father also had Anglo and French-Canadian roots. Also, despite what sources claim, he's not half Jewish. He's only 1/8th Ashkenazi Jewish and he has admitted that his mother and himself aren't practising Jews or were even raised Jewish. He probably lied because there are many Jews in Hollywood.
