the thread is awesome, this geo-localisation gives quite an idea of the racial distribution in different areas.

Do you have sample pictures for the region of Abruzzo, or its capital town L'Aquila?

Mmm.... a bunch of slavics who are interested in Italian anthropology. Is there a hidden message in this thread?

The second thing that surprises me, is that the people in the pics (most of them) are dark haired ("Mori" so the Italians call it). It does poorly represent the variety of people in every region.

Romanian and Bulgarian people are now very represented ethnicity in Italy... Most of them are poor immigrants- a few of them are criminals -
I think there should be a few pictures of Romanians in the mugshots you shown us.... there a so many in Italy nowadays!

Yeah, there's a hidden message, which I desire to remain hidden. Yet despite my reasons, I do have an interest in the antropology in Italy. Not because of immigrants. And please, don't label me slavic. I do not feel associated with that term, its artificial and in my opinion wrong. :)

Eeh.. Is Bulgaria not a South-Slavic country? Is my old geography teacher wrong there? Please enlight me in this matter!

And if you are not Slavic... what are you then? Germanic?

The Italian thread set is mostly good and for the different regions it looks to me that some of them could be French, others Swiss and the rest just standard Italians.

For example the Tuscany region really looks to be a good part of this.

I am from Abruzzo. What's the point with it? There are very light and very dark phenotypes, like in the whole Italy, but most are in the middle. :D

it has bulgarian and Italian version...

More or less, I am interested if there in reality are people of the pontid race in mountain regions near towns like Boyano y etc... i also assume most of the people from the inside, have migrated to the coast and probably mixed. its just out of curiosity.

Bulgarians are homogenous pontid race with no admixtures, so I am just exploring...

Some people from Florence

Some people from Florence?
Many of that people are foreigners, i'm from Tuscany and i know what my people look like.
Florence is not a good place to show Tuscan people as it has had too many immigrants from Maghreb and many of those are wannabe glory hunters polluting the net trying to pass as tuscans.
Number 1, 10, 11, 12 are clearly foreigners, the rest are tuscans.
An english friend of mine everytime he comes in Tuscany says that tuscans look like southern french both for culture and phenotype.
Anyway these are some real tuscans:

Papa D'Orazio is Abruzzese on his father's side (and 100% in his mind, to this day) and his mother was Molisese (nee LaFrati). He was born in Castelmauro as was his mother. His father was born in Civatella Messer Raimondo. He had dark hair as a young man and light brown eyes, is fairly light of complexion.

Nonnie D'Orazio's (nee Mastroianni di Agnone) parents were born in Campagni. Her father in Castel di Sasso and her mother (nee Riciardi) in Gricignano di Aversa...she had light brown hair as a young woman and blue eyes, also fairly light of complexion.

The above picture was taken in the summer, so this is about as dark as I remember them ever getting.

BTW, Papa is 4' 9" (145 cm)...Nonnie was 5' 4" (163 cm) - the picture is cut and pasted from 2 other photos.

In the people from Florence there are at least 4 balkan people of gipsy heritage or maghrebins.

In the Tuscan samples there are people taken by anthrocivitas of dubious heritage which only carry a tuscan surname who is widely presents all over Italy.

With all the respect to that guy i'm quite tired of people claiming this or that over italians and their ancestry, and i'm quite tired that people is only interested in showing italians and spaniards as we were some sort of aliens.
These repetitive threads over italians and spaniards and their phenotypes is starting to annoy me.
There is the taxonomy section for this there is no need to open specific threads like this everytime.
Italians are for the most latins, celts and greeks in the southern part of Italy.Spaniards are celts, iberians and to some degree latins.
All the rest are minimal influxes that should be not even taken in account.

Well, most of the people on the pics you posted are clearly meds, as for if there are pontids, i am not sure, but I think couple of them really resemble bulgarians.

Thanks.

Okay, you probably have good reasons but the thread was not open by you and i can't see why that romanian guy should be interested in our phenotypes.
All of these threads attract only people who think to know our country cause they have seen Hollywood or read something in public bathrooms at the train station.

I honestly think that Italy has been influenced by many people and slavs took part in it as well, in particular before Rome. Some pre-roman Italic languages are still mysterious, like for istance Osco from pre-roman time (also called "Eastern Italic"). So we can't know if it had slavic influxes but the pre-roman migrations schemes are clear:

General m.
http://taras66.tripod.com/italiapre.jpg
General migrations
http://www.vegiazena.it/storia/popoli/imm/emigraz.jpg
Greek/Hellenid migrations:
http://www.circei.it/storia/poligoni/mar9.jpg

Besides Romans made slaves various population from Eastern Europe, in particular Dacians and Thracians.

Though after Rome slavs have influenced Italy less. Germans, Spaniards and Frenchs did more.

MacedonBG

Hm, romans did made slaves, though I am not sure if they had contributed much in the genepool. For instance, Bulgarians live on the land of ancient Thrace, but there are only 20 000 thracians left - greek speaking Karakachani nomads with no real culture and traditions today.
